Restoration

Restoration work

Restoration helps return an object to its original appearance, eliminate defects that have appeared over time, and remove elements that disrupt the architectural look. Most often, restoration concerns the decorative part—facades, interiors, individual structures, stucco molding, sculptures, and other decorative elements.

The work is carried out in stages:

1. Condition assessment

We carefully inspect the facade, walls, plaster or decorative layer and check their strength and integrity.
We record all damage and deformations; if necessary, we use non-destructive testing methods.

Separately, we note elements added during previous repairs or use that distort the historical appearance—additional plastering, cladding, decorative structures, layers of paint, etc.

2. Preparation for restoration

At this stage:
we remove heavily worn or destroyed materials;
we dismantle elements that hinder access to the object;
we reinforce load-bearing structures and bases.

If necessary, we carefully dismantle decorative facade elements and send them to specialized workshops. It is important to preserve their integrity—therefore dismantling is carried out as carefully as possible.

3. Restoration

We select methods individually for each object. We take into account the condition and characteristics of the materials, operating conditions, and architectural value.

Restoration may include:
reinforcement of bases and load-bearing elements;
correction of deformations;
reconstruction of lost fragments;
manufacturing new decorative elements based on the original samples;
restoration of the decorative coating.

If the work was carried out in a workshop, the restored elements are installed after the base on the object has been reinforced.

Materials and approach

We use either authentic materials close to historical ones, or modern equivalents with improved characteristics. Externally, they match the original as closely as possible so that the object retains its authentic appearance and does not turn into a “replica”.
